NEW MINISTRY – Due to the increased interest in Eucharistic Adoration at our parish, we would like to offer the opportunity for parishioners to spend more time in quiet prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament. In addition to Eucharistic Adoration every Friday morning from 7 am to 8 am before morning Mass, we would like to increase the hours on the LAST Friday of each month, from 8:30 am following morning Mass until 3:00 pm. As it is necessary to have at least one person present when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for Adoration, we are looking for volunteers who would like to join the new ministry. Anyone interested in spending a prayerful hour with Our Lord, please contact Regina Civitello at 724-984-1063 for further details.

ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED – We are in need of weekend altar servers, Children AND Adults. It really does allow you to experience the Mass from a different perspective while helping with this important ministry. In Luke, Chapter 6, Verse 38, Jesus says “Give, and it shall be given to you.” Children should contact their Faith Formation teacher and adults may call the office. Thank you.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES (CRS) – The security situation in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas has deteriorated significantly as violence by armed gangs against the people of Haiti continues to escalate. Lawlessness and a lack of protection has limited people’s access to essential services, including hospitals and schools. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced in their search for security. The people of Haiti have faced a multitude of challenges over the years: political and economic crises compounded by recurring natural disasters such as hurricanes, flooding and earthquakes. Currently, nearly 5.5 million Haitians are in need of humanitarian aid. CRS is building on our long-standing programming in Haiti and the dedication of our Haitian staff and partners to provide critical emergency assistance outside the capital where thousands of people are vulnerable. Your help is urgently needed for families affected by the violence in Haiti. Despite the instability in the capital city, CRS’ teams in the south and north continue to ensure access to food, water, agricultural support, education and counseling care. Your gifts at this critical time will also ensure that CRS is able to meet new and anticipated needs of those impacted by the recent violence. Please consider giving a vital gift today at www.crs.org!

VOCATIONS – please continue to pray for all people discerning God’s call throughout our diocese.

Top Student program extended to higher education at Franciscan University . Because of the continued generosity of an anonymous donor, Catholic high school students in the Diocese of Greensburg, or those attending Catholic high schools in Western Pennsylvania, could receive priority for tuition assistance, regardless of income, if they choose to attend Franciscan University of Steubenville. This new initiative is funded by the same anonymous donor who funded the TOP Student program in the Diocese of Greensburg. To date, the TOP Student program has provided tuition assistance to 800 families in Catholic schools across the four counties of the Diocese and has helped to increase enrollment in Diocesan Catholic schools by 20% in just two years; that is one of the largest Catholic school enrollment increases in North America. For information, visit franciscan.edu/JPII-scholarship, call 800-783-6220 or email [email protected].

Help for Ukraine – Support is needed for the Ukrainian Refugee Fund administered by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg, which provides assistance to individuals and families who have been forced to leave their homelands because of war. Visit ccharitiesgreensburg.org/donate/donate-now/ to donate. More than 100 families are on a waiting list to resettle in Western PA.

PRO LIFE

An invitation from Carolyn Cannizzaro,:

Hello Pro-Life Friends, I want to share two important opportunities for you.

1.      I recently was certified as a Sidewalk Advocate to pray at Planned Parenthood. The training teaches you your rights and the law about lovingly approaching a PP client before they enter the facility. The best part is, when you are trained, you do not need  to commit to hours. You only commit the time you can afford. For myself, I can only commit during the schedule for 40 Days for Life, but did you know that there are Sidewalk Advocates praying in front of PP 365 days a year? Every prayer warrior should be trained to know what to expect, what to look for, and how to love and approach someone who is contemplating an abortion. I personally witnessed someone choosing life a couple of weeks ago. It lifted my Spirit!! If you are interested in the training here is the information:

Upcoming Training

Our next training will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Contact Greg Engelmeyer, [email protected], or Jen at [email protected] and let them know you are interested.

2.      The second opportunity of about Walking With Moms in Need, the USCCB initiative to assist families some assistance with basic needs. We will be hosting a WWMN meeting on Thursday, April 25th, at 6:30 pm at the Pastoral Ministry Center in the Meeting Room on the Basement Level. All leaders and those interested in WWMN are welcome to join us. Come and find out what this initiative is all about and how some Parishes are using it to help their local communities. Check out this website for videos and more information about WWMN. This is an awesome way to help in your own Parish and community. Walking with Moms in Need  If you plan on attending please contact Carolyn Cannizzaro [email protected] with an RSVP or with any questions. Materials will be provided.

The prayers invoking the intercession of St. Joseph, Defender of Life, are here: www.respectlife.org/prayer-to-st-joseph  www.usccb.org/prolife/nationwide-invitation-prayer

Other ways to help could be through fasting, getting involved with praying at an abortion clinic Home – 40 Days for Life Pittsburgh, or praying the Rosary Daily.

Easter with the Early Church – Be transformed this Easter Season as Matt Fradd, Fr. Malachy, CFR, George H. Xanthis and Patricia Heaton take us through the lives of the early Christians who knew Jesus firsthand and followed after the Apostles. Each day will feature one of their stories and a specific topic to explore. We’ll pray alongside them and practice different styles of prayer they would’ve learned. We’ll understand what they believed and why they were willing to die for their faith. And in seeing the transformational power of the Resurrection over the first 400 years of the Church, we’ll also ask God to transform our lives along the way.

Important Announcements

SCAM CALLS/EMAILS/TEXT MESSAGES

We have become aware of parishioners who have been receiving phone calls, Emails or text messages pretending to be from clergy or individuals and requesting gift cards or cash be sent to them. If you receive any sort of message who is asking for money or goods, be sure to verify the identity of the person calling you. It is possible for someone to make a call or text message/Email appear to come from a number that you know even if it is coming from a totally different place. There is no way to prevent this activity but want to make you aware so that no one falls victim.
